Highly recommended homestay families – we choose our families because they are near the school, they will really look after our students, and they show the warmth and friendliness needed to make our students feel at home.
All of our families are within an easy walk from the school. (Average 12 minutes).
They will offer you comfort and good company while you are here as well as offering a great opportunity to practise your English skills.
With good cooking and variety of food, students often request families because a friend was there before or it is their second or third visit to Exeter Academy.
Where ever possible your family will meet you at the coach or train station when you arrive and take you back when you leave. They will provide all your meals during your stay, giving you a packed lunch every day, including at weekends.
We do not use an accommodation agency, all our families are personally known and inspected by Philippa and Fiona, our accommodation/welfare officers and they will do everything possible to place you with a family who they think is most suitable for you and your needs.
Before you arrive we will send you details of the family with contact numbers and email addresses so that you can get in touch with them before you arrive in the UK.
Student Welfare
Our Student Welfare Officer is available to help you with any questions or problems you may have during your stay, from booking London hotels and theatres to selling you stamps for your letters home.
If you come from an EU country or a country with reciprocal arrangements with Britain, there is no charge to see the doctor although you will have to pay for any medicines. This free treatment does not apply to medical conditions that existed before your arrival in the UK nor does it apply to dental or optical treatment.
We have many doctors and dentists located nearby and there is a national health "walk-in" center as well as accident and emergency services at Exeter hospital. There is also a dental emergency department at the hospital.
It is obligatory that you arrange your own personal, travel and medical insurance before you arrive in England
